Directions and Parking
The Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church is located in the Village of Whitinsville in the town of Northbridge, Massachusetts. It is in the heart of the Blackstone Valley, about 15 miles south of Worcester and 25 miles north of Providence, Rhode Island.
The major north-south highways connecting Whitinsville to the region are Route 146 to the west and Route 122 to the east.
From the East or West
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to Exit 10A (Worcester/Rt. 146). Follow Route 146 south 8 miles to the Purgatory Road exit.
Take a left at the end of the exit ramp. Follow Purgatory Road to its end at the stop sign (about 2 miles). Take a left onto Main Street. Follow Main Street 1 mile to the traffic light at Memorial Square.
Proceed through Memorial Square, bearing left on Church Street. Follow Church Street approximately 150 yards. Look for a large, 3-story, gray building on the right with a "Domino's Pizza" sign. Take a right into the alley just before this building to enter the church's parking lot.
From the North
Take I-495 South to I-290. Follow I-290 into the City of Worcester. Connect to Route 146 at Brosnahan Square. Follow Route 146 south to the second Whitinsville exit (Main Street).
Bear right at the end of the exit ramp. Follow Main Street into the downtown area. After the first traffic light, the street forks. Bear left at the fork onto Church Street. Follow Church Street approximately 150 yards. Look for a large, 3-story, gray building on the right with a "Domino's Pizza" sign. Take a right into the alley just before this building to enter the church's parking lot.
Those traveling from Grafton can take Route 122 South into the Town of Northbridge. At the first traffic light in Northbridge (Burger King will be on your right), take a right onto Church Street. Proceed one mile through one traffic light. Look for Domino's Pizza on the left. Take a left into the alley just past the Domino's Pizza building to enter the church's parking lot.
From the South
Travel north on Route 146 to the second Whitinsville exit (Main Street). Bear right at the end of the exit ramp. Follow Main Street into the downtown area. After the first traffic light, the street forks. Bear left at the fork onto Church Street. Follow Church Street approximately 150 yards. Look for a large, 3-story, gray building on the right with a "Domino's Pizza" sign. Take a right into the alley just before this building to enter the church's parking lot.
Those traveling from Blackstone, Millville or Uxbridge can take Route 122 North. At the Uxbridge/Northbridge town line, take a left onto Linwood Avenue (look for our United Methodist sign on the corner). Proceed one mile. The church will be on the right. Continue past the church around the town common, making a right onto Church Street. Look for a large, 3-story, gray building on the right with a "Domino's Pizza" sign. Take a right into the alley just before this building to enter the church's parking lot.
Using a GPS
If you are using a GPS device for directions to the church, set the address to "2 St. James Court, Whitinsville, Massachusetts" for directions to access our parking lot at the rear of the church. Set the address to "61 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville, Massachusetts" to access the front entrance of the church.
Parking
Parking is available for the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church, but it can be difficult to find at first. The church is located at 61 Linwood Avenue, and street parking may often be found on Linwood Avenue in front of the church.
The Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church also has a parking lot in the rear of the church. You must use Church Street to enter the church parking lot. On the southern side of Church Street, there are a number of alley ways that will allow you to access the church or municipal parking areas. (You may park in either the church lot or the municipal parking lot). Easiest access to the church parking lot may be found by taking the alley (also known as St. James Place) between the law offices building at 60 Church Street and the building housing Dominick's Pizza. You may also use the alley between the Dominick's Pizza building and the Pythian Building at 76 Church Street. From either alley way, proceed straight ahead to the parking lot in the rear of the church. The two parking spaces closest to the rear of the church building are designated for handicapped parking only. You may access the church building from the rear entrance.

The alleys are only one lane wide and vehicles may be entering or
exiting at any time.
Handicapped Access
All portions of the church are accessible to handicapped individuals. Handicapped access is available from the parking lot in the rear of the church building. The two parking spots closest to the church building are designated as handicapped parking spaces. There is a lift just inside the rear entrance of the church that may be used to access all levels of the church building.
