Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church

Welcoming Ministry

The Welcoming Ministry is dedicated to ensuring that newcomers and visitors to the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church are warmly greeted and made to feel welcome at our church.  All of us have a significant role in welcoming newcomers.  The first impression newcomers receive is very important.  We should all make an effort to greet someone we may not know.  Introduce yourself and invite new folks to fellowship time after worship.  If they are interested, walk with them to Faith Hall and introduce them to others.

Greeters and ushers are essential members of the Welcoming Ministry.

Greeters greet worshippers entering from the Faith Hall entrance at the beginning of the service, hand out the service bulletins and direct people to appropriate church facilities (the sanctuary, Sunday School classrooms, the nursery, restrooms, etc.).  Greeters also provide assistance, as needed, to individuals needing to use the handicapped lift.

Ushers are responsible for greeting and distributing service bulletins to worshippers entering from the Linwood Avenue entrance prior to the service, assisting the acolytes, distributing the attendance folders, providing a count of worshippers at each service, collecting the offering, directing people to Communion (on Communion Sundays) and ringing the church bell.

We can always use additional greeters and ushers.  If you are interested in serving as a greeter or usher, please contact Carolyn Mitchell.
