Visitation Ministry

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."  - Matthew 25: 35-36

The mission of the Visitation Ministry of the Blackstone Valley United Methodist Church is to share God's love, peace, hope, joy, faith and grace with our brothers and sisters who are home-bound or in nursing or convalescent homes.

Members of the Visitation Ministry are assigned to groups of two or three and commit to at least two visits per month to our brothers, sisters and friends in Christ.  We pray with them, we share sermons and Sunday morning messages, and we share exciting and happy stories and events that are happening in church like baptisms, weddings, births, and our outreach programs.  And sometimes, we just talk or quietly sit with those we visit.  We help ensure that our members remain a part of our church family and always experience God's love, even if they are no longer able to attend weekly worship services.  Above all, the visitation ministry reaffirms God's promise that we'll never be alone and that He is always with us, even when physical limitations get in the way.

Share Your Gifts

If you feel the grace and spirit of God and believe that you are called to join our Visitation Ministry, attend one of our meetings or contact Jean or Sela Rousseau.  There are no restrictions to membership - you just have to be willing to share your love, presence and companionship with others.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us!

If You or Someone You Know Needs a Visit

If you, or someone you know, needs a visit, please don't hesitate to contact Jean or Sela Rousseau or call the church office at 508-234-2275.  We are always available to share the gifts of God's love and companionship.  Even if you haven't been to church for awhile, or need to develop or reconnect your relationship with God, we are here for you.
