In the Spring of 2009, Irma and Tom McKeown spent a week in the beautiful Appalachian area of Kentucky at Red Bird Missionary Conference, under the General Board of Global Ministry, National Division, of the United Methodist Church.  Programs are spread in Eastern Kentucky United Methodist Churches which provide many aspects of this mission, including an attractive private elementary and high school, a food pantry outreach, a clothing and home goods outlet, a farm and animal assistance center, an Appalachian historical center and a day care center.  Each of these is situated around a village church or a settlement of mountain families.

The "glue" that cements the people is the support of the United Methodist Church's Board of Global Ministries - namely the Red Bird Missionary Conference.

Local United Methodist Churches across the nation support this ministry through mission outreach.  Although this outreach is mostly financial, it also includes used clothing, food donations, etc.  In addition, collections of Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels provide extras such as playground equipment, library books, and very importantly, vans and buses for transportation on steep and breathtaking switchback roads between villages to participate in these various ministries or to take needy patients into the city.  While school and playground equipment "cost" hundreds of coupons, buses or vans "cost" millions!

Can your family save the special coupons pictured above and bring them to Church to be trimmed, counted and sent to the Red Bird agency?  The coupons may be found on Betty Crocker, Franco-American and various Campbell products.

On their visit last spring, Tom McKeown spent time repairing farm and recreation buildings, while Irma spent her free time trimming labels and counting and preparing them for redemption.  Irma McKeown is volunteering to collect, trim, count and send your donations for redemption by Red Bird for its mission to children and families.

Be sure your label includes the full (undamaged) coupon or insignia code and picture as seen on the top of this page.

You may contact Irma McKeown at 508-476-7071 for more information.
